FINLAND VIA FRANKFURT

[HearDis! 234]

Having been a world renowned Producer and Disc Jockey of Housemusic for more than 20 years, we’re quite positive the air connection in our heading has surely shown up on Jori Hulkonnen’s travel itinerary many times over the years. And it sums up this recent track of his rather shrewdly. As a forerunner to his new LP entitled “Negative Time”, he brings us his “Options” EP on My Favorite Robot Records with remixes by Tomas Barfod and Arto Mwambe. The latter caused quite a stir with their debut “Girl You Know It’s Arto Mwambe” a couple of years back, when many DJs mistakenly suspected a new African House Sensation behind the name, while their actually a Frankfurt-based duo associated with the legendary club Robert Johnson. So, it’s no surprise such a jumbo merger would generate nothing but quality output. Push the play button and download the track for free!!!

SLOK IS HOT

[HearDis! 231]

The Italian Slok considers himself more of a great pasta chef than an underground contemporary electronic music artist…we’re not buying it, because for his new release for Circle Music he teamed up with his brothers in crime My Favourite Robot. „Feel Alive“ is a contemporary house monster which mixes up the goods of nineties house like warm organ chords and an oldschool styled bassline with MFRs sleepy melancholic vocals. Deep and sexy indeed!

IS IT BALEARIC?!

[HearDis! 229]

Matthias Zimmermann, heavyweight new talent on the bass and post-dubstep scene brings us his first vinyl release on Tigersushi after his debut EP on Sound Pellegrino and a single on the coolish Discobelle Blog/Label. The tune we chose sounds like it is 100% made for the Balearic Islands. A groovy beat that catches you and makes you wanna dance, synth melodies that make you wanna fly high! Let the sunrise come.

Here’s an interesting one for you. Mungolian Jet Set released the original track for this song, “We Are The Shining,” almost a year ago. Then, a couple weeks back, we got wind of this remix of the song by Skatebård, a Bergen-based Norwegian producer who is best known for his hip-hop productions with Side Brok. We’re not sure why this is just seeing the light of day now, but we’re certainly glad it is… And we’re happy to share it with you!

WHO IS MARIE MADELEINE?

[HearDis! 213]

Marie Madeleine is a lovely French that coos and chants her way through super catchy dance tunes. Or at least that’s what we thought. On the newest Marie Madeleine song, “The Nihilist Song,” there’s no trace of the vocals that first caught our attention in “Swimming Pool,” but instead cooing and chanting about absurdist philosophy from a deep-voiced man. Well, whatever Marie Madeleine is, there’s a great new remix of “The Nihilist Song” from Rubinskee, and we’re streaming it here.
