HUGO TEAMS UP WITH BANDS LITTLE DRAGON AND MIAMI HORROR

As you have probably already realized, HUGO Tracks has started an interesting collaboration project with bands: the first was Little Dragon back in July this year.

The partnership got underway when a live performance by Yukimi, Eric, Håkan and Fredrik kicked off the after-party for the HUGO Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Show in Berlin. In addition to live gigs from the band, the focus is set on exclusive video features and content: on the HUGO Blog you can find new tracks, videos, background stories, exclusive releases and news about Little Dragon. Check it out here! The next big program with the Gothenburg band will be the support of their new music video. Stay tuned!

The next band, also very much appreciated by HUGO Tracks, is already waiting in the wings: Miami Horror. The Australian quartet also ranks among the hottest new acts of 2011. In October the band will be touring Europe, with support of HUGO and with live performances for HUGO planned during this time as well. Beyond live gigs and exclusive online reports of the tour with all the latest news and information, HUGO Tracks fans can look forward to plenty of additional features this fall, including special products and tracks.

THE GOLDEN FILTER: MOTHER

The Golden Filter are a New York City-based duo comprised of an Australian singer and a producer from Ohio. They’ve remixed Peter, Bjorn and John and Yeasayer, and they’ve toured with the Presets, but nothing thus far has caught them the same amount of attention as the strange video floating around the web for their song, “Mother”. Perfectly suited to the song, it seems to be a preview for a Nordic horror film. We’re mesmerized.

PURITY RING ARE UNGIRTHED

Purity Ring is a spin-off from the hard-to-define New York band Gobble Gobble. More defined in their sound than Gobble, Purity Ring bring their music to a center with sweet female vocals and chirpy synth hits. “Ungirthed” is their first official song, and if it’s any indication of what’s to come, we think you should set a google alert for this band. We certainly will be.

SWEET, SWEET MERCURY

We’ve always been big fans of Germany’s Gomma Records, but sometimes they put out a record that pushes our love for them to the absolute extreme. Mercury’s “Sweetness”, their second release for the label, is one such record. With classic 90s house keys, a low-end that has the cadence and girth of Dirtybird’s best basslines and a vocal sample that is raw and soulful, we’re positive this is going to be a classic.

And as we’re wont to do when we find out about such a great jam, we’re sharing it. Have a listen, and download it for free.

NEW MUSIC FROM POLAND: KAMP!

Here’s something you don’t see everyday: new music from Poland. We’ve heard the scene in Warsaw is super cool, but we haven’t been yet. (Next vacation maybe?) If this song from Kamp! is any indication, we should probably book tickets right away.

YOUNG HEARTS FOR FREE

Routines is a duo from Holland that pulls together elements of electro, soul and new wave to make their own blend of au courant music. “Young Hearts” is a new one from the band, and we’re happy to bringing it to you. For free.

CAPABLANCA & T.KEELER: NO HAY DUB

Capablanca & T. Keeler is a new production duo on Gomma records. If you know the Berlin club scene, you’ll recognize the name Capablanca as the surname of nightlife staple Hugo Capablanca. Hugo DJs and throws parties all over town… In addition to having a great name, he’s made a zinger of a track here with his buddy Mister Keeler. Full of Latin flavor, “No Hay Dub” makes us want to get out our castanets and head straight for the dancefloor.

MOON BOOTS: GOPHER IT

The Magician hipped us to this song in his mixtape we found on La.Ga.Sta (one of our favorite blogs) back in July. Don’t let the silly name fool you (we just can’t help thinking of Napoleon Dynamite when we hear the words “Moon Boots”), this track is seriously good. If you’re into it as much as we are, head this way. Moon Boots’ label, French Express, is offering it up for free.

HONOM GIVES AWAY BEDCAT

Honom is a new producer from Gothenburg (just like our dear friends of Little Dragon). We found this popping, synthy jam, called “Bedcat,” when we were digging around on Soundcloud. We liked it so much we emailed the label Pole Position Recordings to see if we could work out some free downloads. Fortunately, they said yes…
