N.A.M.E. FESTIVAL 2012

Hi HUGO blog lovers,

I was just browsing my snap-shots from this summer’s festivals when I came across this photo, which was taken at the N.A.M.E. Festival 2012 – big room, big sound, big crowd! I’m sporting HUGO jeans and T-Shirt and dancing to my own beat. That night I played with Ame. In case you don’t know them, check out the Ame Remix of Frank Wiedemann & Ry: Howlin (Frank is one half of Ame). I’m just about to hit replay.

Cheers,
Kasper

HANGING OUT WITH TREVOR JACKSON

[YouTube iDf-K8-3iEU]

Hi Everyone,

it’s Kasper signing on again after quite some time! A few weeks back, during my trip to London, I had the pleasure of once again spending some time with my cherished colleague and friend, Mr. Trevor Jackson. Trevor is an acclaimed Graphic Designer, DJ and Producer (Playgroup should ring a bell…), who, for more than two decades, did tons of great works with and for everyone and their proverbial momma. I was lucky enough to have him do the cover artwork for my current album “Fool”. Since the good folks at HUGO are also fans of Trevor’s work, we decided to ask him to design a “Fool”-shirt for HUGO. Check out the video to get a glimpse into Trevor’s world and learn how and where he likes to work and why he’s considered one of the coolest dudes around by so many…Enjoy!

Cheers
Kasper

PS: Keep your eyes, ears and blogrolls open and make sure to stick around here at the HUGO blog to find out how you can receive your copy of this cool limited shirt!

Moullinex (not to be confused with the French kitchen equipment brand) is a Portuguese DJ and Producer who currently resides in Munich and releases records on the cherished GOMMA imprint. PRESIDENT’S PICK

[HearDis! 268]

We don’t know if Mr. Obama is familiar with the Québec-Duo Blue Hawaii, but we’re sure their name would attract his attention if it were to pop up on his iPod, given that it includes the color of his party and his place of birth. If he’d then press play, he’d be in for a breathtaking voyage of a song that would turn the oval office into a dreamy and wavy cloud. We’re afraid he probably hardly finds the time for such pleasure, but are happy to offer the opportunity to you! Blue Hawaii’s album Untogether is scheduled for next year and there could not possibly be a sweeter teaser than “In Two”. Simply beautiful!

FAB TUESDAY WITH FAB MAYDAY

[HearDis! 263]

Fab Mayday is a Producer and DJ of Perugian descent who, musically, likes to wear a lot of different hats. Running his own club-night, label and also being a reliable deliverer of solid edits, it’s hardly a surprise his original productions are of astonishing quality as well. “Do What You Like” is a hedonistic disco anthem filled with electronic and italo references, which will brighten up your Tuesday in no time. Check out the video and of course, the track is available for free download! Like it? Do it!

IN THE HOUSE OF THE SMALLER BEAR

[HearDis! 262]

London’s spaced out acid knights Ursa Minor (Little Bear) deliver a new glittering construction of massive kicks and aerial vocals. Owing as much to Kate Bush as they do to Mr. Fingers they went for the obvious and decided to call their sound Heart House. And “Ha!”, taken from their EP Shell is a prime example of what that means.

OUR CUP OF TEA

[HearDis! 259]

One could start off a week appearing this grey with dismal songs and numerous pots of tea. Well, not on our watch! We’re rather in an “indian summer” – type of mood and hence tend towards ostentatious electronic disco music! This one’s called “Broke The Chain” and comes with compliments of Danny Ashenden aka Earl Grey, who is also known to be a part of “The C90s” and “Say Yes To Another Excess”. Best served hot!

RED EYES

[HearDis! 258]

Berlin-based electronic-pop artist and multi-instrumentalist Thomas Azier has been working constantly on his sound with worthwhile results. He released his self produced debut EP Hylas 001 early this year and we can’t keep back from you the single “Red Eyes”, which has already become a live favorite of audiences across Europe and the United States. You also should look out for his forthcoming EP Hylas 002, again released on his own label Hylas Records/BMG.

MY EXCITING CONVERSATION WITH EYAN ALLEN FOR INTERVIEW MAGAZINE GERMANY

[YouTube bZf3Fi68-9w]

Hello hello,

it has been a while! A few weeks back, when I was in Berlin for the HUGO Show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, I had the pleasure of sitting down for a full length talk with the Creative Director of HUGO Womenswear, Mr. Eyan Allen. Eyan and I had only met briefly – yet pleasantly – before, thus an extended chat had long been overdue. So the fact that Interview Magazine had asked us to do a feature conversation for them came in more than handy! I had a great time and was really taken by Eyan’s kindness and his interesting takes on the numerous subjects (arts, creativity, etc.) we discussed. For the entire talk, make sure to pick up the November Issue (to be released on October 26th) of Interview Magazine Germany and for a brief foretaste, simply check out the clip! Hope you’re enjoying it as much as I did. See you guys soon!

Love,
Nina
