HUGO Tracks is a new music project, a collaboration between HUGO and upcoming music acts from all over the world. The swedish band Little Dragon shares their thoughts about their music, sounds of different, new and interesting musicians and other acoustical artists.

KIM ANN FOXMAN REMIXES THE RIVER SEINE

It’s a song by International about one of our favorite bodies of water (that beautiful river in Paris, the Seine) remixed by one of our favorite ladies in music, Kim Ann Foxman from Hercules and Love Affair. How could it be anything but great? Spatially perfect keys float over a raw, Chicago House-style drum pattern. And the best thing about it? You get to download it for free…

SECONDS BY LITTLE DRAGON: FREE DOWNLOAD!

Hey everyone. It’s been a while since we gave you an update here on the HUGO Blog. If you bought our new album, ‘Ritual Union’, on vinyl or CD, you got a track that the folks who only bought digital didn’t get. ‘Seconds’ is the name of the song… it’s a playful little lullaby. Because we didn’t want you to be left out if you got the digital version, we’ve now posted it up for free on our brand new site, and as a double bonus, there’s an instrumental version and a special remix by our friend Syd The Kyd. Enjoy!

YOUNGER THAN PUNKS

It’s ‘get your head down and dance’ time. The new Younger Than Me remix works the steel drum sounds from Punks Jump Up‘s “Chimes Pt.1″ into a slightly darker, later-night version of the original. A video of said original track is down below, and you can stream the remix right here.

HUGO TRACKS PODCAST AUGUST

Once again, the time has come when we gather up all the songs we’ve been excited about over the past month and package them into a podcast. This month, we playback the new single from Long Island group Twin Sister, a song about the radio by a band we hadn’t thought about since the late 90s, and an amazing remix of Bombay Bicycle Club by Leo Zero. It’s all yours for the taking. Just click here.

STILL BEATING AND PULSING: AUSTRA REMIXED BY STILL GOING

Still Going is the studio project of Eric Duncan from Rub N Tug and Liv Spencer from House of House (if you don’t know, now you know). Together, the two have made great original tracks for DFA and remixed artists like Bryan Ferry and Patrick Wolf. Their most recent output is another remix of the superb vocalist, Austra. They’ve turned her song, “Beat and the Pulse,” into an underwater disco classic.

BEN WESTBEECH GETS INFLECTIOUS

Ben Westbeech is a musician who has collaborated with a number of producers including Motor City Drum Ensemble, Jazzanova, Georg Levin and Henrik Schwarz. That roster would make it seem as though his music was definitively slanted toward dance music. “Inflections”, one of the new songs off of his Strictly Rhythm-released album, is hardly a dancefloor number, though. Yes, eventually a four-to-the-floor kick drum drops into the song, but otherwise, it’s more of a dark folk ballad. No matter what it is, we like it… and we hope you do, too. The download is here for the taking.

BOMBAY BICYLE CLUB: SHUFFLE (LEO ZERO REMIX)

Bombay Bicycle Club are a folk rock band who rose to fame in their home country of England after winning Virgin’s “Road to V” competition in 2006. Since then, they’ve gone on to record three full-lengths, the latest of which, A Different Kind Of Fix, comes out tomorrow. Shuffle is the lead single from the album, remixed here by Leo Zero.

HUGO SUPER BLACK SUIT FREE DOWNLOAD

Terminal Twilight is a duo from Los Angeles making beat driven, dark synth pop. We recently heard their song, “Black and Blue,” and we decided it had to go into a new video that we’ve made.

Their track gets us in the same way The Knife does, with stabbing keys, snapping drum tracks and strange vocals. And guess what, you can take it home with you… for free. Download link is above.

THE NEW DIVISION: OPIUM

The New Divison is a band from California making music that is very much inspired by, you guessed it, New Order and Joy Division. “Opium”, also not surprisingly, is a mega-dreamy, drippy-synthed wash out of a song. We feel like we’re floating.

DANNY DAZE (FEAT. LOUISAHHH!!!): YOUR EVERYTHING

Danny Daze is a Cuban-American from Miami. His new track, “Your Everything,” gives slight hints of his heritage, with some muted horn hits poking their heads out between what is otherwise a song that feels very inspired by early electro and Matthew Dear.

Here is the official video for this track:
