MATPAT HAS SOME NERVE

[HearDis! 284]

Everybody Rise is only Matpat’s second EP, but it already shows a fully formed artist who found his own sound. Or, better, found a way to emulate the well known sound of 90s House in a pre-apocalyptic 2012 style. And who would be better suited to help him than Ben Mono, another fan of classic 90s House? Nobody! So here it is: a stream of Matpat’s “Werk That Nerve” remixed by Ben Mono.

DO THE SUPERFICIAL ROBOT!

[HearDis! 282]

Düsseldorf’s own Lorenz Rhode has been releasing music on such illustrious imprints as Compost, Kitsuné and he is now signed to Berlin’s powerhouse Exploited Records. Cooking up an “alluring cocktail of ’80s-influenced electrohouse and all-out pop” with his various machines, this dude is definitely going places! Stream the provocative “Superficial Robots” (which features Coco Solid on vocals) right here to get with the program and to defy the weatherman!

FOLLOW THE STEP IN THE NAME OF LOVE

[HearDis! 280]

Rachel Row: one alliteration under a groove. Beautiful, blessed with an incredibly soothing voice and of Bulgarian descent. The alumni of Sofia’s National Academy of Music has caused quite a stir in the realms of musical connaisseurs. Especially since she decided to team up with KiNK, who has been a trusted deliverer of great house records that immediately hit the nerve in a club context, while never being to obvious. Together, these two highbrow musicians produce music that is plain and simply beautiful. So make sure to follow their step while you can!

HUGO TRACKS PODCAST BY NINA KRAVIZ

[HearDis! 278]

Hey guys,

the last weeks have been filled with nice treats and tracks from Nina’s goodie bag – and mind you, it’s still a couple of days left until this year’s holiday season! Since the end of the month is here, it is about time again to wrap up last month’s HUGO Tracks in podcast-format! Besides selecting the tracks for November, our dear Nina is kind enough to guide us through the selection in her own sweet way. The podcast contains great tunes by Ry & Frank Wiedemann, Monkey Safari, Christopher Rau and of course Nina herself, amongst others. To go on the journey with Nina, simply stream the podcast right here or download it for free on iTunes and take it on the road. Enjoy, everyone!

ON THE ROAD

Hi Folks,

while I am looking forward to relax and enjoy some quality time at home during the holidays, I thought I’d share a couple of on the road memories with you from the past months. Whenever I can, I try to capture some special moments like these: The crowd going crazy for Trentemoller in Rome, Esben from the band Reptile Youth getting ready backstage before their release show in Copenhagen, me shopping for glasses at Campbell in Berlin, eating Snails at an event in Copenhagen where I Djed with Trevor Jackson – and some beautiful crazy skies in Ibiza.
Enjoy – and happy holidays everyone!

Cheers,
Kasper

NINA’S GOODIE BAG: NINA (FEAT. KING AUS ON THE MIC) – AUS

[HearDis! 277]

Hey m’dears!

Well, you know how they say that all good things come to an end… sadly, this is already the last treat from my goodie bag series! While I’m truly not intending to toot my own horn here, this is also just a song I’ve really enjoyed recently and didn’t get tired of, even though I’ve listened to it a million times at least. It’s called “Aus”, features the great King Aus and is just another one of those nice hybrids of spoken-word and deep house grooves. Hope you guys like it! Thanks so much for checking out my little selection here and make sure to stay tuned for the HUGO podcast this month, which will be compiled and curated by yours truly!

Love,
Nina

NINA’S GOODIE BAG: RY AND FRANK WIEDEMANN – HOWLING (AME REMIX)

[HearDis! 276]

Hey everyone,

it’s time for another one of my recent favorite tracks! Considered one of the greatest club records of 2012 by many dancers, I’d be lying if I were to say I hadn’t fallen for it myself. Ry Cumings’ voice is just so magically fragile on this song, and the production of Frank and Kristian from Âme is just as genius as everything they’ve ever done! Innervisions remains one of the greatest labels out there. Stream the song here to see why I’ve been so obsessed with it…

Love,
Nina

FOODSPOTTING AT KADEAU

Hello Foodspotters!

I recently had some mind-blowing food at the Restaurant Kadeau in Bornholm, Denmark. This was my starter – scallops with wild beach plants and flowers, picked right outside the restaurant. Green, healthy and delicious. Are you hungry now?

Cheers,
Kasper

NINA’S GOODIE BAG: REWORK – TOUCH YOURSELF

[HearDis! 275]

Hi People,

it’s a new week and it’s time for a new download-goodie! This one is called “Touch Yourself” and it’s by an act that’s been releasing quality music for quite some years now: Rework! I’d consider them underground legends by now… and, fun fact: They currently reside pretty close to the HUGO HQ. Well, everything’s connected it seems – and now it’s time for you to connect yourself to the player above and get your free download! Have fun with “Touch Yourself” and stay tuned for more!

Love,
Nina

ARTSPOTTING

Hi Art Lovers,

here’s a snap-shot from an exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. It was about new Nordic design, art and architecture. Very inspiring!

Cheers,
Kasper
