Yelle, whose Safari Disco Club was one of our favorite albums of 2011, has been on our minds a lot recently. Perhaps it’s because of this video for “Comme Un Enfant”, which left an indelible mark on us. We still watch it, sometimes a couple times in a day. Luckily, for a little variety, there’s this Panteros666 remix of the song, which satisfies our need for bass and has enough of the original vocals intact that we can play out the video in our minds while dancing around HUGO headquarters.
I must admit that I am fascinated by models. Not only are they extremely good-looking and somehow beaming with joy and beauty, but most of them are also friendly, spontaneous and open-minded. At least, this applies to all the models I’ve met so far. So when I ran into top model Mathias Lauridsen and newcomer Josefine Nielsen backstage at the HUGO Fashion Show in Berlin I took the chance to ask them about their job and lifestyle. Luckily our camera team was there to record everything on tape. Hello spontaneity! Home Video, a couple of gents who originally hail from New Orleans but now reside in Brooklyn, have been making music together since 2004, when they released a couple of EPs on Warp. Since then, they’ve been remixed by DFA’s Tim Goldsworthy, and they’ve shared the stage with everyone from Flying Lotus to Blonde Redhead to Justice. The next feather in their cap is “When I Was Young,” a song that seems to be a nod to Eric Burdon.
