Isa Genzken Retrospective

Berlin based artist Isa Genzken is one of the most important contemporary German artists with impressive works of different shapes and materials having gained international recognition for several years already. Painting, photography, film and sculpture: at the end of the year Genzken will be honored with a major exhibition at New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) - it is the artist’s first ever retrospective in the U.S..

Over 70 of Anish Kapoor’s works cover the entire ground floor of the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin. One of the world’s most significant contemporary artists, alongside existing well known pieces Kapoor created a number works out of some of his favorite materials steel, glass and wax for his first ever German exhibition.
National Gallery Prize

Every two years, this prestigious art prize is awarded by the Association of Friends of the National Gallery, accompanied by an exhibition of four nominated German artists. This year it’s the turn of Simon Denny, Kerstin Brätsch, Mariana Castillo Deball and Haris Epaminonda. The winner gets a solo exhibition in one of the locations of the National Gallery. Previous nominees such as Olafur Eliasson, Cyprien Gaillard or the current HUGO BOSS PRIZE winner Danh Vo speak for the high quality of the award.
Gerhard Richter, Atlas

From October this year the recently re-opened Lenbachhaus in Munich shows the complete and only just finished Atlas, a constantly updated collection of photographs and individual motifs of the artist Gerhard Richter. Since 1962, Richter has gathered pictures and sketches that accompany his entire work and allow an intimate look at the artistic process.

The Centre Pompidou in Paris is the latest to exhibit the drawings and collages of Roy Lichtenstein, following shows in the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Washington and the Tate Modern of London. The first major retrospective of the American artist for over 20 years!

Brazilian painter Mira Schendel’s first comprehensive retrospective is posthumous Schendel was one of the most important postwar Latin American artists and impressed most through a very reduced but clear design language, which was a new form of European modernism.
September 14 – November 10, 2013| Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts
“Mom, am I barbarian?” is the title of the 13th Istanbul Biennale and is designed by curator and author Fulya Erdemci. Known for her revolutionary take on exhibitions Erdemci curated the Turkish contribution to the Venice Biennale and in Istanbul discusses the relationship between poetry, literature and contemporary art.
Art Basel Miami Beach
