THE MEN BEHIND HUGO

Today is the day before the HUGO Fashion Show. So it’s high time to properly introduce the two men behind the HUGO brand – meet HUGO designers Eyan Allen and Bart de Backer.

HUGO womenswear designer Eyan Allen is a real Englishman. At least at first sight. He was born in Leeds on June 29, 1971 and studied Fashion & Textile Design at the University of Central Lancashire and Menswear Fashion at the Royal College of Art in London. However, he started his career as a designer in Germany. In 2007 Eyan joined HUGO BOSS and has worked for the HUGO brand ever since. His favorite city in the world is New York and he tries to spend as much time at his NY home as possible. At our first encounter I was very impressed by this international man – Eyan is full of inspiration, always open to new ideas and he knows exactly what women want. When it comes to dresses, slim cut trousers and blazers Eyan simply knows best!

Bart de Backer is in charge of all the HUGO menswear designs. He was born in Belgium on August 5, 1976 and studied Fashion Design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. After working for various designers in Belgium and the Netherlands, Bart joined HUGO BOSS in 2008. I love Bart’s rather quiet personality and his understated designs. And I am very proud that I could convince Bart to open up his own twitter account. Just like Eyan he is always open for new ideas and looking for new inspirations – and that is exactly why the two of them make such a great team.

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN

It’s the time of the year again making Berlin an even more stylish destination than usual. And when it comes to a Fashion Week it’s all about the perfect fitting. You all know how much I love to take you as close as possible to all our events. So two days before HUGO rocks Berlin I’m back behind the scenes at the HUGO Fashion Show Fall 2013 menswear fitting. Take a step inside the designer’s studio with me!

Among all the creative HUGO minds you could just feel the professional mood today during the fitting but on the other side it was also so much fun again joining HUGO Menswear designer Bart de Backer, stylist Tom van Dorpe and model Ian Sharp! Gorgeous male model James Smith is already gearing up for the upcoming HUGO Fashion Show. BEHIND THE SEAMS AT THE HUGO WOMENSWEAR FITTING

As promised, I took you “behind the seams” yesterday on twitter and instagram joining HUGO Womenswear designer Eyan Allen and stylist Tom van Dorpe for the womenswear fitting for the upcoming HUGO Fashion Show. This time, we had booked two amazing girls – Manon Leloup and Dajana Antic - who were not only very professional and extremely beautiful, but also funny and very charming. Especially Dajana, who never got tired of striking a pose for the camera. Now I can’t wait to see both ladies strolling down the runway in Berlin on Thursday in the HUGO Fall 2013 looks. Speaking of, the show looks are beyond amazing – especially one purple floor-length dress made me gasp. But you will see for yourself, so be sure to tune in to the live stream of the HUGO Fashion Show Fall 2013 on Thursday at 08:30 pm CET here on the HUGO Blog.
And now you will get another chance to follow me live “behind the seams” – join me today at the menswear fitting with HUGO menswear designer Bart de Backer on twitter and instagram. And don’t forget – I am happy to answer all of your questions about the fitting, the show, the models etc. – just keep tweeting them with #HUGO.

XOXO

COLORFUL STRIPES

We believe in color this spring. So forget about the navy trend. Blue and white stripes are boring anyway. Pink-black-white-and-jade-green stripes are so much cooler. Agree? Then get your hands on this fab and lightweight coat from HUGO Spring 2013. It’s also been featured in our print campaign, take a look.

THE URBAN CLASSIC

Do you remember a season when parkas were not in fashion? I do not. The parka is an urban classic. For me, it is also the ultimate piece for the festival season. Speaking of festivals reminds me to make plans for the festival season 2013. Is it already time to worry about tickets? Note to myself:  Call the #HUGOTracks team and check music blogs and websites for dates and bookings. Do you have plans yet?

PS: I spotted the perfect parka for the boys in the HUGO Spring 2013 Menswear collection (pictured above).

TONIGHT

What are your plans for tonight? And most importantly, what are you wearing? All the blogs and magazines are talking about sequined dresses, velvet pants and fabulous tops – but what about the boys? If I were a boy I would pick this flamboyant suit from the HUGO Spring 2013 Collection. A real eye-catcher and just perfect for New Year’s Eve!

TREND FORECAST 2013: PRINTS WILL STAY

Good news, girls. Prints are still going to be a huge hit in 2013. Especially ornamental ones. I will definitely get these printed pants from the HUGO Spring 2013 Collection and wear them with a white blouse or slim cut white V-neck shirt. Advanced fashionistas sport the allover look: print from head to toe – as seen on editorialista Miroslava Duma. I love the allover print look, but it’s a little bit too much for my personal taste. I’m still the clean HUGO girl I always was.
