IT’S ALL IN THE MIX

This season, I am in love with one particular material mix: Wool and leather. No wonder, the HUGO coat in light grey with black leather sleeves has already made it to my closet. Also on my wish list: The chic shift dress with leather detail, which is just perfect for the office. And there is also a fabulous wool coat with leather sleeves in the HUGO Menswear line. Wanna know where you can try on those fabulous pieces? Simply use our store locator to find your closest store. Happy material mixing!

RUDI ZYGADLO TAKES IT EASY

[HearDis! 94]

Clearly a fan of Digitalism and Justice, Scottish-born Rudi Zygadlo, in his song, “Achtung! (Go Easy, Come Easy)”, has co-opted the digitized bass sounds of both and incorporated them into a breathy tune with lots of oooh and aaahs. Those vowel sounds point to the real fundamentals of Zygaldo’s music: pop. He may have underground influences, but he’s aiming for the stars.

THE PRESENT MOMENT TAKES THE HIGH ROAD

[HearDis! 93]

The Present Moment is an L.A.-based band making music that’s inspired by dancing at nightclubs, if not for dancing at nightclubs. All the elements for great club tracks are there – mantra-like lyrics, synths, drum machines – but somehow the music is too heady for the dancefloor itself. We’ve got a track from their new album, “The High Road”, here for download. We suggest playing it on the way home from a big night out.

CRAZY P GROWS UP

[HearDis! 92]

Crazy P, who got their name from a record called “loco pinga” (you do the translation), have been around an making music for over fifteen years now. Their new song, “Beatbox”, is epic – strings, backup oohs and aahs and an eight-minute time mark. It’s certainly the most mature thing we’ve ever heard from them.

CLICK! FLASH! MIAMI HORROR FOR HUGO

It’s Miami Horror for HUGO! Don’t Benjamin, Daniel, Aaron and Josh look fancy in their HUGO Super Black Suits?! By the way, I like it when men are pairing an elegant suit with a basic T-shirt – it makes the whole look much more casual and laid-back.

A NEW COMPOSER

[HearDis! 89]

Before the two gents who make up the hybrid electronic rock duo, Composer, met one another, each one was already recording music for the French label Infiné. The owner of the label, Alexandre Cazac, heard something complimentary about each artists’s work and decided to push them to get together. We’re quite happy that he did: Composer works off the strengths of each, with Eric Raynaud bringing the pulse of his electronic project, Fraction, and Guillaume Eluerd, the singer/songwriter of the duo, bringing a more organic structure. Check Chuck is a perfect example of their work overall. You can download it above for free…

APPARAT’S SONG OF LOS

[HearDis! 91]

Apparat has a long, storied history in dance music. Once a co-owner of and artist on Shitkatapult Records, a leftfield-leaning German techno label, over the past few years, he’s moved to song-based, melodic music. His recent projects have been as much about textures and soundscape as they are about composition. His new album, The Devil’s Walk, just came out on the legendary Mute label. This track, “Song of Los”, is from that album. He’s on tour in support of the album now.
