TWIN SISTER’S BAD STREET

Twin Sister is a quintet from Long Island, NY that makes loose-fitting pop music. We’re obsessed with their new song, “Bad Street,” a slowed-down disco nod to Stereolab. The video is pretty fun, too. It was filmed at a birthday celebration at the home of the super cute lead singer of the band, Andrea Estrella.

If you like the track, you can download it for free right here. We suggest listening to it over and over and over again until the full record comes out on Domino at the end of September (here’s the website for Domino in Deutschland if you like to speak the German).

REVERSO 68: WELL HEELED

Reverso 68 is the UK-based production duo of Phil Mison and Pete Herbert, two long-time DJs, who have remixed everyone from The Juan MacLean to Richard Dorfmeister. “Well Heeled” is characteristic of the classic Reverso sound – rooted in early disco, spaced out and fun.

WASHED OUT: AMOR FATI

Washed Out is the nom de plume of Ernest Greene, an artist from the rural south of the United States. We’ve been listening since his EP came out in 2009 on Mexican Summer, and we’re loving the full length just released on Sub Pop/Domino last month. Right now he is on tour with this great album. This is one of our favorite songs from the new release. It’s called Amor Fati.

We also recommend to check out the video for his track Eyes Be Closed:

FALL/WINTER UPDATE – CONTEMPORARY CLASSICS

When it comes to fashion, the fall/winter season has already started. With the new HUGO Menswear Collection hitting the stores, I find all my male colleagues obsessing over classic slim fit jackets and bright red knits. To put it in a nut-shell, the new season is all about the mix of classic tailoring and contemporary highlights, whether it’s a simple jacket with an oversized hood, pants with leather details or classic accessories in the bright HUGO red. Conclusion: Contemporary classics are the new cool!

GOLDEN BUG & MUSTANG: SOAPOPERA

This track by Golden Bug and Mustang is just pure fun. With half spoken/half sung vocals by Lavinia Claws and bass and synth lines that are reminiscent of “Thriller,” it takes all of our restraint not to turn the HUGO offices into a set for a large-scale choreographed dance mob.

SASHA PIVOVAROVA AND JAMIE DORNAN FOR HUGO

Are you ready to be blown away by our new HUGO Campaign for Fall/Winter 2011? Let’s catch a first glimpse, shall we?! Top model Sasha Pivovarova and model/actor Jamie Dornan, whom you may know from the movie “Marie Antoinette”, are sporting the chic and urban HUGO looks for the Fall/Winter season. The campaign was shot in a neglected building to emphasize the rough and individual style of the new HUGO Collection in a figurative way. I hope you love the new collection just as much as I do!
