The second exhibition of the HUGO BOSS ASIA ART Award for Emerging Asian Artists has opened at the Rockbund Art Museum (RAM) in Shanghai.

Celebrating ermerging artists
As part of the HUGO BOSS arts sponsorship program, the biannual HUGO BOSS ASIA ART Award aims to honor emerging contemporary artists in Asia who are in the early stages of their artistic creation and exhibition practices. The project is developed as a long-term and ongoing exchange between challenging topics and contexts in Asia, supporting young talent in the region.

Larys Frogier, RAM Director and Chair of the HUGO BOSS ASIA ART jury, said: “The exhibition presents completely new productions and truly inspiring art projects. As such, it highlights the rich possibilities for cultural exchange and dialogue across the regions in Asia.”

A glittering opening event in Shanghai
The opening was celebrated with a glamorous cocktail event, with the celebrities Chang Chen, Yao Chen, Wang Luodan, Jin Dong and Wang Kai in attendance.
Many other socialites and key people from the art scene also joined the event, a highlight of Shanghai’s cultural calendar.

The second edition of the Award returns with a focus on Greater China but also encompassing exciting artists from Southeast Asia.
The six artists nominated by the international jury of curators, collectors and experts, in recognition of their artistic practice, are Guan Xiao (China), Huang Po-Chih (Taiwan), Moe Satt (Myanmar), Maria Taniguchi (Philippines), Vandy Rattana (Cambodia), and Yang Xinguang (China).

The winner of the 2015 HUGO BOSS ASIA ART Award was announced on 25 November in Shanghai. Maria Taniguchi is the recipient of this year’s prize – many congratulations from everyone at HUGO BOSS.
