VORTEX OF EMOTIONS

[HearDis! 331]

Vin Sol hails from sunny California and calls himself a drum machine freak, vinyl creep and dance music otaku. Not the worst initial situation if one wants to produce clever dance music, right? And that’s exactly what Vin does. He has a new EP coming out on Unknown To The Unknown which is called “Edges Of A Vortex” and right here you can check out its title track! This is quite the surreal party starter, riddled with Chicago house references, which should get you geared up while you’re cannonballing along the French Riviera on your pink speed boat.

FORWARD

[HearDis! 330]

Well people, what can we say… Here’s the new single of a man, born with a broken heart, who surely does not need an introduction: The UK’s own James Blake. And “Retrograde” is all we could have asked for. It’s been on repeat ever since we heard it for the first time and it’s so bittersweet and beautiful that we’ll listen to it again in 3 – 2 – 1… You should really do the same and stream it right here to forget about it all for some time. Also make sure to check out Blake’s sophomore album “Overgrown”, because it is just as amazing.

IT’S JUST A MISDEMEANOUR

[HearDis! 318]

Benedikt Frey is a jack-of-all-trades in musical regards: He’s a musician, disc jockey, sound student and label owner, hailing from Frankfurt, Germany. No matter what it is this prodigy lays his hands on: it will undoubtedly burst with dedication and sophistication. So it’s hardly a surprise he’d attract the attention of such renowned labels as LIVE AT ROBERT JOHNSON, where he released an impressive EP entitled “Running In Circles” last year. His newest coup is a “3 track album” on vinyl entitled “Delinquencies”, which comes into the world on Frey’s own imprint LOPUSURA. That’s an abbreviation for “love, pain, sunshine & rain”, and the label is meant to be a platform for “electronic music that is made for deep and trippy journeys”. And that’s exactly what the title track “Delinquencies” is: intelligently produced house music, that impresses with its numerous layers and facets. Stream the track right here, check out the hauntingly beautiful video below and try to catch this puppy on vinyl while you can!

IT’S ALL YOURS

[HearDis! 328]

Dutch producers Kraak & Smaak have already shown several times that they’re not an one trick pony. In 2013, their sound is still crispy, flawlessly produced and simply animating as ever. Speaking of established electronic music artists: The one and only Ben Westbeech, one of the UK’s finest crooners, enriches “The Future Is Yours” with one of his superb vocal performances. The single also contains remixes by Futurizm, Ambassadeurs and Tom Trago (undoubtedly one of Amsterdam’s finest DJs), but we have the Kraak & Smaak remix right here for your download-pleasure. Could you think of a better soundtrack for the new week?

PROUST AND PASTRY

[HearDis! 327]

Predicting the Stuttgart native Konstantin Sibold a bright future is anything else than a courageous endeavor. Curating a superb club night in his hometown called Common Sense People (with guests like Todd Terje, Roman Flügel, DJ Koze and many more), releases on such well-respected imprints as Innvervisions: looks like it’s going to be nothing but net for this up and coming DJ and Producer. And we surely would not be surprised if his beauty “Madeleine” would be the cornerstone of an international career! The track has already caused quite a stirr on the internet after Âme started dropping it in their notorious sets. And just like Proust’s madeleine, enjoying this song comes with a joyous trip down memory lane to anyone with the slightest appreciation for club music in them. Make sure to have Konstantin on your watch in the future and stream the track right here to see what all the fuzz is about!

RHYTHM AND POETRY

[HearDis! 323]

The United Kingdom’s amazingly mystical Ghostpoet is on the point of releasing his sophomore album “Some Say I So I Say Light” in May 2013 through [PIAS]. Obaru Ejimiwe aka Ghostpoet recently premiered a teaser track entitled “MSI MUSMID” on Gilles Peterson’s Saturday BBC 6Music Show. Obaro says “MSI ‪MUSMID (pronounced “‪M S I” “MUS” “MID”) is a track based on a dream I had where dimsum and noodles were life-long friends who kept squabbling all the time…I try in vain to make sense of it all.” Wanna try to make sense of it as well? Stream the track right here and give it a shot!

NORWEGIAN WOOD

[HearDis! 324]

In today’s complex and confusing world, you can feel the growing need for reliability. We got some reliability coming your way right here: Just as you’d expect from a release by trusted Norwegian Disco icon Prins Thomas on trusted Norwegian label Smalltown Supersound, this puppy lives right up to the expectations it provokes. Prins Thomas’ remix of Carmen Villain’s “Lifeissin” is nothing short of a charming psychedelic skyride, that just leaves one happy and content. As they say: “People will let you down – music won’t!”.

STREAM A LITTLE DREAM

[HearDis! 322]

Mexico’s own Buvette graces us with a new 7″- single on Zürich’s Hula Honeys imprint. And boy, what a beauty this is! Especially if it’s enjoyed alongside the incredible video by French director Simon Wannaz. This one can totally ride without the training wheels of a written introduction – so just hit play to get away from it all for a couple of minutes… Sublime!
