EDITOR:
MIAMI HORROR
Why hello. This is Miami Horror. We're a band from Melbourne, Australia made up of bassist Benjamin Plant, keyboardist Daniel Whitechurch, drummer Aaron Shanahan, and vocalist and guitarist Josh Moriarty. Benjamin started the band back in 2007 as a solo production project (he did some pretty great remixes of folks like Stardust, Bloc Party, Datarock and Tegan and Sara), but since then, the rest of us guys have joined in. Over the past couple years, we've toured with folks like Friendly Fires, Phoenix and Simian Mobile Disco and toured all over the world.

We're still on the road now in support of our 2010 album, Illumination, and we're doing a collaboration with HUGO Tracks starting with our European Tour this fall. Keep us dialed in here on the HUGO blog as we post updates about tours, giveaways, and the process of making our new album, which we'll be starting in Los Angeles in the fall. We're excited to tell you what we're up to!

NEW YEAR´S WISHES FROM CHILE

Hello, hello!

It’s Miami Horror here with some New Year’s wishes from Chile, where we played a pretty amazing show at a commune in a town called Zapallar last night. We’re back to LA shortly where we’re keeping our heads down and working on our new record. For now, we just wanted to wish you and yours a wonderful 2012. It’s gonna be a good one…

MIAMI HORROR: RECORDING IN LOS ANGELES

Howdy, HUGO folks.

Miami Horror here with an update. We’ve finally finished touring and landed in LA, our new home. It’s pretty much what they say: lots of pretty people, lots of sunshine and lots of cars!

We’re beginning work on our next record as well as working on some Californian inspired side projects which you may hear about soon… LA is definitely full of strange people and has a vibrant history, so we’ve been using this to our advantage when it comes to our art. So far so good. We’ll keep you posted here with some updates.

And now…  drum roll, please! It’s the grand finale of our get-to-know-us-via-top-five-lists-of-totally-random-stuff feature. Over the past week-and-a-half, we’ve been presenting videos of us talking about our favorite songs, favorite bands, favorite places to travel and all kinds of other stuff. So far we’ve heard from Josh, Aaron and Ben, and today we’re presenting Daniel, who plays keyboards for us. (Spoiler alert: his all-time favorite artists to work with are Josh, Aaron and Ben.) Thanks for checking it all out. We’ll be back on soon enough with more news. Keep it dialed in.

SHOPPING WITH MIAMI HORROR

As if HUGO hadn’t already laid on the good stuff for us, the day after we played our instore in Berlin, they invited us back down to the store to ransack it. The HUGO Fall/Winter Collection is awesome, there are so many groovy pieces like slim fit coats and jackets and eye-catching accessories. Here’s a video of us trying to figure out how to dress it all up and down. Check out that red bowtie..

MIAMI HORROR AT THE STUTTGART BEER FESTIVAL

While we were on the tail end of our European tour in the south of Germany, we stopped into the Stuttgart Beer Festival, which is really kind of a misnomer. It’s more of a giant carnival with beer drinking, a very clever combination obviously. While we were there, Aaron faced his fears of heights, Daniel did a dance-off against an older German man, and Josh got very worn out. And a fine time was had by all…

ON THE ROAD AGAIN WITH MIAMI HORROR

Howdy, HUGO folks. It’s Miami Horror with a brief dispatch from the road. We’re on the way to New York now, but a couple of weeks ago, we were in Zürich, at a tiny little place called Hafenkneipe. It was definitely the smallest place we’ve ever played, but the energy was amazing. Check the video for a touch of footage from the night (and the road trip getting there). Come say hey if we’re in your town soon…

After New York, it’s Clagary, Denver and Sacramento. North America, here we come!
