MELLOW YELLOW

Music-wise, a Donovan song from the 60s does not belong here on the HUGO Blog at all – and I guess the HUGO Tracks boys agree with me one hundred per cent. But fashion-wise, I am really digging the colorful 60s. And I just wanted to share these looks from the HUGO Fall 2012 collection with you to show you that a splash of yellow can truly work miracles. Especially during the fall/winter season which is usually dominated by dark colors. So let’s save some shafts of sunlight for fall, shall we?!

CHECKED

Check out checked shirts this fall. And no, I don’t mean the comfy lumberjack shirts you guys love to wear with destroyed jeans on the weekend, but perfectly tailored shirts with decent checked prints. They instantly spice up any business suit and they also work with jeans, of course. Get some inspiration from the HUGO looks for fall 2012!

PS: For an advanced styling go for a checked coat – oh so very preppy!

MORE LIKE A PIECE OF ART

When I first saw this look on the HUGO runway back in January I must admit that it didn’t really catch my eye. However, when selecting the HUGO Fashion Show Pieces for our stores and online store, I insisted on this particular look. Why? First of all, I am intrigued by the asymmetric shape (the upper left part reminds me of a kimono). Secondly, I love the white stripes because they transform the exceptionally shaped little black dress into a modern piece of art. Oh, and on top of that I love modern and avant-garde dresses in general, because nothing represents fashion-forwardness as much as they do.

NEW IN – THE HUGO FASHION SHOW PIECES

Have you ever wanted to shop an exclusive look that you’ve seen 1:1 walking down the runway? Well, I have. Many times. This is why I am really excited to tell you that we have selected some highlight looks from the HUGO Fashion Show Fall/Winter 2012, which are now available in our stores and online. The HUGO Fashion Show Pieces are strictly limited and absolute showstoppers. So I am happy to present you the first two looks here on the HUGO Blog. Therefore I asked HUGO designers Eyan Allen and Bart de Backer for the original sketches in order to show you how the Fashion Show Pieces come alive – first on paper and then on the runway. Take a look!
Now, you can shop the HUGO Fashion Show Pieces and decide how their story continues. Be sure to tweet me a snapshot @HUGOBOSS, if you decide to get one of the limited Fashion Show Pieces. I’m so curious to see how you work these looks…

PS: The pink statement coat is mine!

OF BAGS AND MEN

Females consider bags an essential accessory. However, with men it’s a complete different story. There are men who wouldn’t be seen dead carrying a handbag and then there are men who go with the fashion movement sporting the latest designer bags. I am clearly more into the latter. Why? First of all, keys, mobile phone and wallet simply don’t fit into a skinny pants’ pockets – and I’m a huge fan of skinnier-fit clothing, especially of the HUGO menswear collection, of course. Secondly, as much as I love oversized bags, I’m getting tired of carrying my boyfriend’s belongings. And last but not least, bags simply are a useful idea. So it’s time to emancipate, guys. Meaning? Get you own stylish-yet-casual bag like this one from the new HUGO Fall 2012 collection.

LEOPARD PRINT

I love leopard prints. Always have and always will. And now that I have laid eyes on the new HUGO Fall 2012 collection’s orange leopard print I’m desperately craving for some new leopard statement pieces. So far I’ve spotted the print on a blouse, a dress and a scarf, which are all now in stores. So this summer I’m going to pass on the summer sale and move right on to the new fall pieces!

SPRING/SUMMER 2013 ON PAPER

We are right in the middle of summer 2012. The thermometer at the HUGO BOSS headquarters in Germany shows 30 degrees and I am sitting on my desk marvelling at Bart de Backer‘s sketches for HUGO Spring/Summer 2013. You’ve already seen some of the looks on the HUGO runway in Berlin on July 5th (and if not, you can watch the HUGO Fashion Show Spring/Summer 2013 here), but for me it’s always a pleasure to see the sketches on paper. I’m amazed by the detailed drawings including each seam and each pocket. So even though spring/summer 2013 is far away, I thought I treat you to an exclusive sneak peek! And thank you, Bart, for sending over the sketches!

COLTON HAYNES AT THE TEEN CHOICE AWARDS

And the Teen Choice Award for the best look goes to (drum roll) Colton Haynes for pimping a classic grey suit with a bright yellow v-neck – all by HUGO, of course.
The Teen Wolf star dazzled in HUGO on the red carpet at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards on Sunday. Time to learn a lesson from Colton: For once, think about personal touches instead of wearing a suit the old-fashioned way. Meaning? Add a punch of color and a pocket square or go for pushed-up sleeves and colorful socks. It’s all about surprising details reflecting your personality.

MAGIC MOMENTS

The start of the HUGO Fashion Show is only seconds away. In less than a minute all guests will be seated, all spotlights will be on the runway and the first beats of the fashion show soundtrack by Nina and Kasper will reverberate in the ice arena in Berlin-Mitte…
I love those magic moments right before the show and luckily our photographer Toni Nüsse captured those moments at the HUGO Fashion Show Spring/Summer 2013, so I can not only tell about them, but also share some impressions with you, for example HUGO womenswear designer Eyan Allen – concentrated and focused – supervising the line-up of the models. Just by looking at these shots I am longing for the next fashion show, how about you?!

LOOKBOOK: RAW AND UNCUT

Ah, fashion shows! Watching a fashion show grow from just a few squares and seating charts on a piece of paper into a huge fashion event with editors, celebrities and photographers is amazing – every time again! And there is nothing more exciting than the hustle and bustle backstage in preparation of the show. I already took you behind the scenes, big time, but there is still one particular snapshot I want to share with you: It’s the lookbook of the new HUGO collection at its earliest stage and in its rawest version. Very inspiring – don’t you think?
