PIMPING UP THE CLASSIC BLACK POINTED PUMPS

Simple black pumps are a must-have in every woman’s shoe closet. They match with everything and work at all occasion. However, they can also be kind of boring sometimes. That’s why we’ve added some fun and colorful stripes on our black HUGO pumps for the Spring 2013 season. I love surprising details, how about you?!
PS: The pimped-up-pointed-pumps are now available in our stores, so watch out!

FROM THE RED CARPET OF THE 63RD BERLINALE

If you are following me on twitter and instagram you know that since Thursday I’ve been in Berlin for the 63rd Berlinale Film Festival providing you with glamorous red carpet shots and regular updates from my little pop-up showroom here in Berlin. Hence the silence on the HUGO Blog. But in order to keep you, my dear blog readers, also in the loop of what’s happening on the red carpet at the Berlinale, here’s a picture I would definitely put into the category “best dressed” – it’s actor Florian David Fitz in HUGO. The slim fit HUGO suit goes so well with the slim tie and his smile does the rest. Agree? See more shots from the red carpet on facebook and stay tuned for more insights in the following days.

BART THE TWITTER BIRD

You all know that I am addicted to twitter. I think that it’s the perfect channel to share the latest news and insights with you and to let you sneak a peek into the world of HUGO BOSS. So whenever I meet interesting people who are not tweeting I do my best to convince them to get an account up and running. And so I am more than happy that our HUGO Menswear designer Bart de Backer is now posting from his twitter account on a regular basis. And no, there’s no ghost writer or PR strategist behind it. It really is Bart himself tweeting. Take the picture as proof and follow our amazing and inspiring creative mind on twitter!

IN DETAIL

Have you watched the full HUGO Fashion Show Fall 2013 yet? I have to admit that I’ve watched it several times and each time I take another look I spy some new sophisticated details. Cut-outs, for example, play a leading role in the HUGO Fall 2013 Womenswear Collection. They’re sexy in a very subtle and minimalist way. That’s what I love about HUGO. It’s always the right dose of femininity combined with a splash of coolness. So let’s take a closer look at the stunning floor-length evening dress model Dajana Antic was presenting on the runway.

AT THE RE-SEE OF HUGO FALL 2013

On the day after the HUGO Fashion Show it was time for the re-see of the collection at the HUGO BOSS showroom. Let me quickly introduce the term “re-see” for those who are not working in the fashion business: A “re-see” is an appointment with the designer that usually takes places at a brand’s showroom or another lovely venue shortly after a new collection has been presented on the runway. Journalists and media representatives are invited to the re-see in order to get a closer look at the collection and to find out about the designer’s inspiration. This time, we also invited a few fashion bloggers to the re-see of the HUGO Fall 2013 Collection. So on Friday, January 18, I joined Helena Glazer (Brooklyn Blonde), Kimberly Pesch (Eat Sleep Wear), Cindy van der Heyden ( Come over to the dark side we have candy), Pelayo Diaz (Kate loves me), Kiki Albrecht (The Random Noise), Lara Maria Gräfen (Belle on Earth) and Anna Ponsa (Miss Nobody) in our Berlin showroom.

HUGO Womenswear designer Eyan Allen revealed his favorite pieces from the collection – amongst them the little red dress which had already caught my eye on the runway – and pointed out the subtle sexiness of the HUGO Fall 2013 Womenswear Looks. HUGO Menswear designer Bart de Backer explained that “the HUGO Fall 2013 Menswear Collection is about clean cuts, structures, couture and leather details and focuses on great outerwear with surprising details.”
To put the cherry on top, all bloggers got the chance to try on their favorite pieces from the collection. Pelayo went for a burgundy jumper while the girls fell in love with all the jackets and coats. I am already looking forward to the next re-see!

MODELS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN

I honestly don’t know how they do it, but our models are always in a good mood. Despite the jet lag and the waiting for their fittings, hair and make-up, they are always in for a joke and open for a chat. A few of the girls and boys are close friends with the designers and stylist Tom and so spending time together in the backstage area feels like a family reunion. Normally everyone’s got a great story to share. HUGO campaign model Karmen Pedaru got married on Tom’s birthday, December 14, and showed off her gorgeous wedding band. I found out that Hanne Gaby Odiele and Kasia Struss were roommates at the beginning of their career and I had a very intense discussion with Dajana Antic about teeth bleaching. Oh, and Nadja Bender just got her first tattoo. Like I said – family reunion.

BLOGGERS ROCKING THE RED CARPET

As soon as the fashion bloggers took over the red carpet at the HUGO Fashion Show in Berlin the cameras were flashing. First up was Cindy van der Heyden from the Netherlands who literally seduces her readers with fashion insights and daily looks on her blog “Come over to the dark side we have candy“. On the red carpet Cindy stayed true to her dark signature look in an iconic pant suit from the HUGO Spring 2013 Collection.
Contrary to Cindy fashion blogger Gala Gonzalez added a hint of color to her otherwise black look with a jacket from HUGO Winter 2012/2013 and was also sporting a fabulous maxi bag from the HUGO Spring 2013 Collection. It is just the perfect size and spacious enough to hold all of Gala’s camera equipment so she can capture the latest fashion for her blog “Amlul“.
Then a gorgeous Swiss blonde took over the red carpet – Kristina Bazan. On Kristina’s blog “Kayture” you can find very professional and editorialesque photos shot by her boyfriend photographer James Vyn. I have been a huge fan of her looks for a long time and it was a pleasure to finally meet her in Berlin.
Last but not least, Pelayo Diaz made an appearance on the red carpet. Known for his eye-catching and fashion-forward looks on his blog “Kate loves me” Pelayo surprised us all with a rather understated and elegant look in honor of the occasion.
I must say that I was smitten with Cindy, Gala, Kristina and Pelayo and that I look forward to meet them again in the near future. Make sure you check out their blogs and let me know your thoughts on twitter.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE

This time I enjoyed the HUGO Fashion Show Fall 2013 from behind the scenes watching the models line up getting the final touch up from the hair and make-up artists and the designers themselves. I took as many snapshots as I could and uploaded them on instagram on twitter to let you take part in this exciting experience. Together with the designers Eyan and Bart I watched the show on a monitor backstage and enjoyed the excitement of the boys and girls exiting the runway. The thrill, the big smiles, the bustle – I loved it. It was great to watch the fashion show from a whole new perspective and I do hope you liked my snapshots?!? Let me know on twitter and we’ll continue experiencing new perspectives together.
