THE GOLEM HAS BEEN RELEASED

[HearDis! 157]

Here’s a treat we don’t get to offer up as much as we’d like… This song’s only available on vinyl, but the nice people who run Les Edits Du Golem (we can’t tell you who they are… it’s a secret) are letting us stream it here. It’s an amazing I:Cube edit of an obscure 80s synthpop track. If you love it as much as we do, grab it on vinyl here. And keep an eye out for new, original music from I:Cube. We hear he’s got a new album coming in May on Versatile!

DIMITRI FROM PARIS GOES FREESTYLE ON HOLY GHOST

[HearDis! 156]

Dimitri from Paris is known for adding a touch of disco to just about everything he does. But what about when he’s handed the already Italo-tinged track, ”It’s Not Over”, from Holy Ghost? Apparently he turns it into a freestyle song. We won’t ask questions. We’ll just dance…

HUGO BOSS TALK – THE FIRST EDITION

[YouTube 0ycvFDK_-ys]

Long time no talk, but the next one is already in the making. I’m referring to the HUGO BOSS TALK, of course. It’s our online video series, which brings together two well known figures for an authentic conversation without script guidelines. Released in November 2011, the first edition sees Little Dragon’s Yukimi Nagano and Eyan Allen, Creative & Brand Director of Womenswear at HUGO BOSS. And as I mentioned above, the second edition is already on its way. So let’s rewatch the HUGO BOSS TALK EDITION ONE and get excited about EDITION TWO!

IN THE BEGINNINGS: IN FIELDS

[HearDis! 155]

In Fields may be our new favorite band. One second they sound like James Blake, the next second they sound like heavy, new disco, and then moments later you hear the Talking Heads. We are absolutely thrilled to be offering this one up for free download. Don’t sleep. It’ll be gone very soon.

AN ODE TO THE PERFECT BLAZER

Tough and powerful yet elegant and feminine. This is exactly how I feel when I’m wearing my new black fitted HUGO blazer. It gives me sort of an “I’m ready to take on anything!”-attitude. If you haven’t experienced this feeling yet, go to the next store to find a black blazer that fits you perfectly and you’ll see what I mean. Finding the perfect black fitted blazer is like falling in love. From this day on you cannot imagine a life without it. And there are so many outfit options: For business meetings I pair my blazer with a pencil skirt and white blouse, for a casual office day it goes with black skinny jeans and a classic v-neck and in my free time I wear it with a romantic vintage dress, biker boots and tousled hair – aka the Sienna Miller look. Plus, a black fitted blazer will never be out of style because true love lasts a lifetime.

C’MON: WAZE & ODYSSEY

[HearDis! 154]

Waze & Odyssey are taking some of our favorite sounds from dance music’s past twenty years and mixing them all into a perfect stew. There’s synth horns from early 90s house, New Jersey deepness and 808 claps. Get down.

FREJA BEHA ERICHSEN – GET THE LOOK

I confess I have a #GirlCrush on top model Freja Beha Erichsen. Even inbetween fashion shows she pulls off a seriously cool and reduced look: Black leather jackets, biker boots and skinny jeans with basic tops and shirts. The dress she’s wearing in the HUGO Spring 2012 campaign is much more elegant, of course, but it pretty much reflects Freja’s own “less is more” style philosophy. And this is exactly the reason why we picked her to star in the HUGO Spring 2012 campaign, which celebrates the new feminine minimalism. The dress Freja is sporting in the HUGO Spring 2012 campaign ads is one of my favorite pieces from the collection and now available in our stores.

We’ve got this month’s edition of the HUGO Tracks Podcast hot off the presses. This time around there’s music from Brooklyn duo Blondes and a new signing to Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control label; and we kick it all off just like the movie, “Drive,” with Kavinsky’s “Nightcall.”

If you haven’t heard it before, the HUGO Tracks podcast is a monthly mix we make compiling all the music we’ve offered up to stream and download over the past month. You can stream it here on the HUGO Blog, or you can download it via iTunes.

PARIS – THE CITY OF LOVE AND FASHION

Arrived in the city of love and fashion yesterday. It was such a rainy day and I instantly had to think of the movie “Midnight in Paris”. Paris in the rain is just so romantic, so let’s ignore the fact that I am here for business meetings for a moment and talk about fashion and love in Paris. Right at the end of Paris Fashion Week the city is abuzz with fashionistas from all over the world. Strolling down the Champs-Elysées, Avenue Montaigne or Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré you can watch impeccably dressed editors, bloggers and wannabes shop the latest designer collections. Though the best place for fashion people watching is still the Jardin des Tuileries – at least during fashion week. Click, flash – this is the place to get caught on camera with the likes of Anna Della Russo, Emanuelle Alt and Anna Wintour. But what about Paris, the city of love? With the HUGO BOSS Love Story we are not only celebrating “la mode”, but also “L’amour” in our store on Champs-Elysées. If you happen to be in Paris, come by and discover the love story of the two characters Juliette and Louis in the shop windows, browse their favorite pieces in the store and send a note to your sweetheart on one of the HUGO BOSS Love Story postcards. I’ve just sent one to mine and now I’m off to the next meeting. Wanna keep in touch? I’m excited to read your thoughts on twitter and instagram. Bisous-Bisous!

DOE PAORO IS TRYING TO IMPRESS YOU

[HearDis! 152]

Doe Paoro doesn’t need to do too much to try to impress anyone, to be honest. It all seems pretty effortless to her – the conversational tone of her vocals, the band-next-door instrumentation. No matter what, her song, “Trying To Impress,” has got us hooked. If you’re as into it as we are, check the album out. It’s all good.
