Lewis Hamilton has had quite a journey. The Mercedes AMG-Petronas Motorsport driver has reached legendary status on the race track for his sporting prowess, as well as rising to fame outside of motorsport. But where did it begin?
"My dad bought me a go-cart and we started this as a hobby. I started taking part in races and I kept winning, then at the age of ten, I won my first British Championship. To receive the award you go to an event. I saw Ron Dennis there, who was one of the main heads of the McLaren team, and I said to him, 'One day I will be the Formula One Champion in your car.' He signed me three years later."
And Lewis has continued to win, holding three Formula One Championships and 56 Grand Prix victories, the second highest of all time. It's been an incredible journey, and there's more to come.

Always moving and taking risks, Lewis is not one for staying in his comfort zone. He knows you have to step out, even if it means failing along the way. In fact, this is essential.
"Generally, you can learn more out of a defeat than a victory. I don’t get so hung up on disappointments. That’s just punishing yourself. It’s not about wallowing, it’s about quickly turning it to an advantage."
With this mind-set, Lewis is set to achieve even more, rising the ranks of the all-time greatest drivers. And yet there's a lot more to his journey than driving, and he has many options for the future. "Maybe working in fashion someday. I would have to learn everything – like in F1, you’re not good right from the beginning. There are thousands of hours of hard work and I respect the work of fashion and design." It's taken years of hard work for Lewis to reach his current success, and he knows that with that same attitude he can steer his journey wherever he wants.
"The most challenging thing is staying focused. You learn how to control your feelings and to think positive."
