Ohtani currently plays for the Los Angeles Angels. His success as a two-way baseball
player, both pitching and hitting, and as the first-ever player with 10 pitching appearances, 20 home runs and 10 stolen bases in a season
in MLB history earned him the accolade of
American League Rookie of the Year from the Baseball Writers’ Association of
America in 2018. Ohtani is also the first
Japanese-born baseball player to hit for the cycle in Major League Baseball.
